Portland Grand Prix Trials Results & Pictures.

Twenty players came out for our Portland GPT. The event consisted of a 5 round M11 sealed deck event with a cut to the top 8 draft. Eleven hours later Nephi James battled Dane Young and Nephi emerged the winner. Thank you very much to all the players who participated and Jeff Lee for judging our event.

We are hosting more MTG constructed events in honor of Kris and Daniel Andrews who will be relocating off our island within a few months. They may or may not be able to attend them all, but I want to make sure that they have events to play in if they somehow have time. Keith and I will really miss this great father and son team.

A friend opened some 08/09 Exquisite Basketball recently and thought he was seeing double?! He open two different cases and both cases “A” pulls were two Magic Johnson autos. Not only that but two of the other cards in the packs were Magics also. I love Magic but getting the exact same items in two packs out of six was just brutal. A couple weeks later he was back and proclaimed that, “he could not go out like that” and opened another case of 08/09 Exquisite. The outcome on this case was much better as he pulled two Rose rookies. He felt he HAD to opened the last pack and while it didn’t have a Rose, it had an O.J. Mayo RC 4 color patch auto 60/99. One case (3 packs) and 3 short printed RC patch autos shows that you just never know what lies in the pack (or box) you leave behind.
